| Our Vineyard
The Burong Vineyard or Winchelsea Estate as it was called in those days, started in 1978 when a 5 acre trial vineyard was planted with Chardonnay and Riesling vines.
When Burong was bought in in 1998 more than 12 acres were producing excellent grapes for the Melbourne Wine Company and the Australian connection of Moet and Chandon.
Being red wine lovers themselves Dirk and Sicca planted 5 acres with Pinot Noir vines and the first harvest was picked in 2002. The area is proving to be excellent for Pinot grapes.
Most of the Burong grapes are sold to local wine makers. However a small amount is kept and Scott Ireland has been making an excellent Chardonnay and Pinot Noir that is now being marketed under Burong’s own label Four Hooves.
